Get out and get active!

There are a variety of activities on offer in and around Grantown-on-Spey. So whether you want to have a leisurely game of golf or go mad on a zip wire there is always something available to give you a thrill.

Golfing – Take time out to enjoy the Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club established in 1890, this 18-hole course offers varying difficulties which will suit all types of players. With beautiful views of the Cromdale Hills and the Spey river you could also try the Craggan Golf Course offering a 9-hole course with competitive green fees and suitable for all levels of golfer. The Spey Valley Championship Golf Course in Aviemore is 20 minutes from Grantown, this 18-hole course again offers all-ability play.

Cycling – For cyclists there are an array of bike trails to choose from near Strathallan Guest House. You can find a newly established set of trails in the Anagach Woods, suiting all levels though lovely pine forests. Why not hire your bikes from Base Camp Bikes located on Grantown high street. The Dava and Speyside Ways are also suitable for riders who want to go long distance. There is also a mountain bike trail at the beautiful Glenlivet Estate with graded routes to suit all abilities.

Horse Riding – A lot of our guests enjoy taking in the beautiful surroundings while on horseback. Carrbridge Trekking Centre offers guided riding routes between 30 minutes and 2 hours long. Craggan Outdoors offer 1 or 2 hour treks through lovely woodland and are very close to Grantown.

Quad Biking – An exhilarating way to see the Cairngorms and worth a try if you fancy something a little more exciting and different. There are a few options close by including Quad Bike Treks in Aviemore, offering one hour tours through some lovely scenery.  Quad Bike Tours will take you a little further afield to the Ardverkie Estate which was the filming location for Monarch of the Glen.

Fishing – With the Spey River on our doorstep it would be a shame not to go fishing. You can purchase fishing permits and supplies on Grantown high street or online from Mortimers. A friendly local shop offering advice on the best places to fish.
